Online Mustard Powder
Mustard Powder. We at Tony’s Kitchens love our mustard powder when we’re making vinaigrettes and salad dressings. A folk probably know vinaigrette is a lighter salad dressing made from a mixture of vinegar and seasonings. Combine dry mustard powder with lemon juice, garlic and Worcestershire sauce for a distinctive, rich dressing. Or for another great tasting mustard vinaigrette, use dry mustard powder, garlic, balsamic vinegar, parsley, thyme and pepper. Dry mustard-based vinaigrettes work best with mixed green salads.
Dry mustard powder can be reconstituted and turned into yellow mustard. By making your own mustard, you’re in control of the flavour. You can add garlic for additional flavour, pickle juice or turmeric for a new twist on a classic condiment. While some recipes call for mustard seed in addition to mustard powder, you can still make a homemade mustard without the seeds -- the seeds add a more powerful flavour, but this can be done by increasing the amount of mustard powder you use. You can make your own prepared mustard by combining mustard powder with a sweetener (remembering in the world of slimming over a certain amount, sweeteners can have a value) vinegar, and water to get the desired consistency.
